Melinda shivers. The September breeze is chilly on her bare arms, and she hugs her chest in an effort to keep herself warm. She sits down under a tree and begins playing with the colourful leaves around her.
"Melinda!! Do you need help with those boxes?"
She looks up at the sound of the male voice and smiles. She sees her friend Greg sticking his head out the front door. He is a handsome man, with dark blonde hair, beautiful green eyes and a wicked sense of humour. They had been seeing each other since the early summer when they met in a class they both were taking at the University. At first she had been resistant to his advances, but had eventually caved and gone out with him.
"No! I'll take care of it," she yells back, breaking from her reverie. "I'm just taking a little break."
He walks over to her and plops himself down in the leaves. Putting an arm around her shoulders he says, "It's a great house. You're going to love it here, I know it."
She nods, gazing up at the house in front of her. "I think I will, too, Greg," she says, a soft smile on her lips.
