Everything looks peaceful. The flowers are blooming, welcoming spring with their petals towards the sun. She hears birds chirping in the trees, and sees two of them bathing in the fountain in the front garden. Instinctively, she looks up at the second story window, her childhood bedroom. A deep melancholy descends over her suddenly, not because of her grandmother's illness, but because of her memory of what it was like that night... Staring down into the darkness, trying to catch a glimpse of her father, watching the car speed away...
"Get over it," she says aloud, a self-mocking smile on her lips. In her mind she thinks, 'Not now...'
She strides up the front walk intent on finding her ailing grandmother.
