Wayne stays an extra day to help with the funeral arrangements. While he is making phone calls and dealing with sympathetic neighbors and friends, Melinda takes a walk around the property. She has one thought on her mind: finding her mother's grave if it does, indeed, exist.
And she does find it, right where the ghost of her mother told her it would be: behind the gazebo, hidden among the trees.

She is overcome with a new wave of grief and begins sobbing right there, next to her mother's grave. She bends down and brushes off the years of dirt and leaves surrounding the tombstone. Lovingly she rubs a hand over the lightly etched letters that spell out her mother's name. Her mother was right. Now that she knows the truth, Melinda feels that she can finally be at peace. She can let go of the feelings of abandonment that have plagued her throughout her life. She can finally grieve properly for the loss of her mother. She can finally move on.
