Melinda awakens, shivering. She realizes she fell asleep in the chair while she was watching over her grandmother. She searches sleepily for a clock to check the time and suddenly freezes in horror. There is a woman standing over her grandmother's bed. Her face is cold, without emotion, but her eyes look sinister.
And then Melinda realizes who the woman is. It is her mother. But not her mother the way she remembers her… This woman has a greenish tinge to her skin and she is moaning… Melinda closes her eyes and screams in sheer terror.
When she opens her eyes she sees Wayne run into the bedroom. His hair is disheveled; it is obvious that he just woke up. The woman is gone.
"Melinda, what happened," he says, his eyes wide with fear and concern. "Are you ok?"
She blinks quickly a few times, trying to decide if she had really seen what she thought she had. She looks up at him wonderingly. "Wayne I saw your ghost. She was standing… standing over Gramma's bed. She looked at me. I screamed, and now she's gone…. Wayne…"
There are tears of shock and confusion running down her face. Wayne says nothing at all. He pulls her towards him and wraps his arms around her. She sinks into them gratefully, her body suddenly shaking with sobs. He strokes her hair silently, letting her cry in his arms.

He pulls back. "Melinda," he begins, his voice husky with emotion, "I'm here. It's going to be ok."
He reaches out for her again and strokes the side of her face. She looks up at him, her eyes still wet with tears. And then it happens.
